Global View Clear Winner of Generous Stakes

Global View, making his stakes debut in the $100,000 Generous (gr. IIIT) for 2-year-olds on the Betfair Hollywood Park turf Nov. 30, collared pacesetter Ontology past the eighth pole and scored to a clear victory over five opponents .
Joe Talamo, riding the good-looking son of top Irish sire Galileo for the first time, gave the maturing colt a ground-saving trip while piloting him to a 1 1/4-length victory in a time of 1:36.25 for the one-mile distance on a course rated good.
The Generous was one of two graded stakes on the turf for 2-year-olds on the second day of Hollywood Park's annual autumn Turf Festival.
Bred in Kentucky by Reiko and Michael Baum out of the unraced Storm Cat mare Egyptian Queen, Global View races for Glen Hill Farm and trainer Tom Proctor. The dark bay was coming off a solid maiden special weight score down the Santa Anita Park hillside course at about 6 1/2 furlongs and was making his initial try around two turns.
"He's a really nice horse and has always acted like a nice horse," Proctor said. "I've worked him a mile. He's bred to run all day, so I wasn't worried about that. He relaxed, (Talamo) gave him a good trip, and it makes a horse look better when they get a good trip. It's nice to get a stakes win in him and we'll go from there."
Global View brought $500,000 from the owners at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale with Man o' War Farm acting as agent. He is the third winner from four starters out of his dam and her first graded stakes winner. Egyptian Queen sold for $390,000 to the Baums at the 2010 Keeneland November breeding stock sale when consigned by Lane's End, agent.
"Before he left for Hong Kong, Gary Stevens (aboard for maiden win Oct. 27) told me a lot about this horse," Talamo said. "He said this horse is very classy and pretty push-button. He sure was today. We had a great trip. I just took him to the outside (in the stretch) and he did the rest."
Maiden Ontology, looking to end his six-race losing streak, sped to the front, opening a four-length advantage after a half mile as Persisting and even-money favorite Pablo Del Monte tracked and Global View rated in fourth. Ontology clipped off solid fractions of :23.63, :47.21, and 1:11.63 for the first six furlongs and still led by two lengths at the quarter pole.
After advancing into second rounding the far turn, Talamo angled Global View out a bit for the drive and he responded to draw even with Ontology near mid-stretch. Global View gained the lead in the final furlong under urging, inching clear and holding sway for a comfortable tally.
Stakes-winning Aotearoa rallied from last at mid-stretch to get up for second under Martin Garcia, three-quarters of a length better than first-time United States starter Royal Banker, guided by Corey Nakatani. Ontology faded to fourth while previously unbeaten Pablo Del Monte failed to carry on in the stretch and finished fifth. Persisting trailed.
Global View, who debuted with a fourth-place finish on Polytrack at Del Mar July 20, improved to 2-for-3 in his young career with earnings of $93,300.
The winner carried 116 pounds and paid $6.40, $3.60 and $2.40 as the second choice. Aotearoa, who toted top weight of 122, returned $4 and $2.80 while completing a $17.40 exacta. The Great Britain-bred Royal Banker, now trained by Eoin Harty, paid $3.40.
