Grade 3 winner Speightster , a 10-year-old son of champion sprinter and successful sire Speightstown , will stand the 2022 season at Northern Dawn Stables in Hillsburgh, Ontario.
Speightster stood his initial five seasons at WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., but will move to Northern Dawn Stables this year. He will stand this season for CA$6,500 (US$5,135).
In 2021 Speightster finished among the leading second-crop sires, ranking fifth with progeny earnings of more than $4.2 million. His leading earner last season was filly Door Buster , a two-time stakes winner at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races who secured $192,108 behind a 5-1-3 record in 11 starts on the year. Door Buster is out of the Half Ours mare Miss Henny Penny .
Other black-type stakes winners for Speightster from his first two crops of racing age include Dreaming of Drew , Aubrieta , Tantrum , and That Kenney Kid .
A homebred for WinStar Farm, Speightster won three of four starts on the track, including the 2015 Dwyer Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park. Trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, Speightster earned $368,800.
Speightster is out of Dance Swiftly , a full sister to Canadian Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year Dance Smartly , who has produced nine winners from 11 starters. Speightster is a half brother to stakes-winning fillies Paiota Falls and West Coast Swing .
