Kingston Hill , the Classic winning son of Mastercraftsman , will continue his stallion career at Nunstainton Stud in County Durham.

The Racing Post Trophy Stakes (G1) and Ladbrokes St. Leger (G1) winner had stood at Coolmore for the past six seasons, initially at the operation's Fethard base and latterly at Castlehyde Stud outside Fermoy. However, in a deal brokered by Richard Venn, the 11-year-old, who was trained by Roger Varian and raced in the silks of Paul Smith, will relocate to the northeast of England ahead of the 2022 breeding season.

"This is a great opportunity not only for the breeders of the northeast but for all UK breeders to use a horse of his caliber," said Chris Dawson of Nunstainton Stud. "He was an unbeaten group 1 winner as a juvenile, runner-up in the Epsom Derby with over three lengths back to the rest, and winner of a strong renewal of the St. Leger. He covered good-sized books at Coolmore's Castlehyde Stud in Ireland so he will have plenty of horses to run for him over the coming seasons."

Kingston Hill was second to Australia  in the 2014 Investec Derby (G1) and also won the group 3 Autumn Stakes in an unbeaten juvenile season.

He joins a roster that includes Dragon Dancer , Cannock Chase , and Norse Dancer .
