Churchill Downs Inc. announced Dec. 3 the promotion of Maureen Adams to president and general manager of Calder Casino & Race Course in Miami Gardens, Fla.
Adams, who currently serves as senior director of finance at Calder, will assume her new duties Dec. 9, 2013. Adams replaces Austin Miller, who was promoted to CDI's senior vice president of gaming operations. Adams will report directly to Miller.
"We are very pleased Maureen has accepted our offer. Maureen will do a wonderful job continuing the success of our slot, poker, and racing operations," Miller said in a release. "Her extensive experience in the gaming industry where she has held several leadership roles, as well as her knowledge of the South Florida gaming market, makes her the ideal candidate for the position."
Adams joined the Calder team in January of 2013 as the senior director of finance after an extensive career in the gaming industry, including serving in several leadership roles with Caesars Entertainment.
Adams holds a bachelor's degree from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and an MBA from Rutgers University. She also earned a General Management Certification from Harvard Business School.
Adams, a long-time community advocate, formerly served on the Advisory Board for Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, was appointed to and served on the Economic Development Council of Atlantic County, and was actively involved in the United Way and Red Cross. She is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a volunteer for the Red Cross.
