Versatile Angelica Zapata will try to register her fourth straight stakes victory and first career graded stakes win when she faces a full field of fillies and mares in the $100,000 My Charmer Handicap (gr. IIIT) Dec. 7 at Calder Casino & Race Course.
Herman Van Den Broeck's Angelica Zapata will return to the Calder turf for Saturday's 1 1/8-mile test after registering a one-length victory on that course in the 1 1/16-mile Capano Handicap on Nov. 2.
At 122 pounds Angelica Zapata will be highweight for the My Charmer. Her current three-race win streak began with a victory on the Calder main track in the Nancy's Glitter Handicap July 20 before a clear victory on the Gulfstream Park turf in the Aug. 31 Wasted Tears Stakes and her Capano score.
A 5-year-old Sharp Humor mare, Angelica Zapata has won eight stakes races in her career.
Other accomplished fillies and mares in Saturday's race include Lone Stable's Parranda, who enters off a pair of stakes wins on the Gulfstream Park turf; and Caroline Forgason's Somali Lemonade, a two-time grade III winner on turf.
