Description:

This Jockey and Jeans Stallion Season Sale that ended Jan. 24 on Starquine.com earned $72,450 for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, slightly more than the 2021 sale.

“We thank all the season donors and buyers who once again proved that the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse community cares about those 60 catastrophically injured jockeys,” said Jockeys and Jeans president, Barry Pearl. “And believe me the $1,000 a month stipend the charity gives to those men and women make a huge difference in their lives. We want to make sure they are never forgotten.

Sales in the Quarter Horse section of the sale totaled $44,450 while sales of Thoroughbred seasons brought in $28,000.

This is the only Stallion Season Auction that brings together Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse Stallions in one sale and one in which all proceeds go to the PDJF.

Since its founding in late 2014 by a group of former riders, Jockeys and Jeans has raised nearly $2 million for jockeys who suffered career-ending racing injuries, including $340,000 in its 2021 fundraising event at Monmouth Park.
