Trainer Jeremiah Englehart has been suspended seven calendar days after one of his horses tested positive for prednisolone following a runner-up finish last October at Belmont Park, according to a Feb. 13 New York State Gaming Commission ruling. Englehart was also fined $500. His suspension runs Feb. 14-20.
Catch That Party finished second Oct. 17 in an $80,000 allowance race for New York-breds, finishing three-quarters of a length behind Chulainn . The NYSGC Equine Drug Testing Laboratory reported a finding of the corticosteroid prednisolone in the body fluid sample of Catch That Party following that race.
New York stewards have disqualified Catch That Party, owned at the time by Collinsworth Thoroughbred Racing, from his runner-up placement and ordered that the purse, from which Catch That Party earned $16,000, be redistributed. Grape Nuts Warrior was moved up to second and Cotton was placed third.
Englehart waived his right to appeal, according to the ruling.
The Association of Racing Commissioners International's Uniform Classification Guidelines for Foreign Substances and Recommended Penalties Model Rule lists prednisolone as a Class 4 drug with a Class C penalty. Class 4 drugs are considered to have less potential to affect performance than those in Class 1, 2, and 3, with 1 having the highest potential.
Catch That Party was claimed in his next start, Jan. 20, at Gulfstream Park.
