Siblings to Group 1 Winners Set for Arqana February

Arqana's sales year gets under way on Feb. 15 with a catalog that offers something to suit every taste, from weanlings to broodmare prospects on the flat and over jumps.

The 2021 February Mixed Sale was headed by a sibling to a top-class jumper with Highflyer Bloodstock's €250,000 purchase of Hardi Du Mesnil, a winning half brother to dual grade 1 winner Gaillard Du Mesnil, and the horses-in-training section which begins the two-day sale on Tuesday includes exciting young National Hunt racing and breeding prospects.

Golden Park (Hip 145) won the Prix de Chambly (G3) and is from the family of Alan King's Maghull Novices' Chase and Ascot Chase winner Balder Succes. The 6-year-old is by Walk In The Park , the hottest sire in National Hunt racing, and has to rank as an excellent broodmare prospect.

Nicolas Clement consigns an unraced filly from the second crop of the brilliant young sire New Bay  out of a sister to the dam of Henkel Preis der Diana (German Oaks, G1) winner Miss Yoda . Morning Call (Hip 36) is Morgenlicht's second foal and the winning daughter of Sholokhov is also a half sister to Oaks d'Italia (G1) winner Meridiana.

Haras de Bouquetot consigns a draft of breeding stock that is strong on quality, including a mare whose family made headlines at the weekend. Galileo's daughter Ghand (Hip 193) is a sister to Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) runner-up Field of Miracles , the dam of Saturday's Keno T.S. Carlyon Cup (G3) winner Earlswood , who was successful twice at that level last season in Ireland for Johnny Murtagh.

Ghand is also a sister to listed winner Cameron Highland and a half sister to group 3 winner Solid Stone , and is carrying a foal from the first crop of Tattersalls Irish Two Thousand Guineas (G1) and Prix du Haras de Fresnay-Le Buffard Jacques Le Marois (G1) winner Romanised .

The Normandy Stud also offers Gherbal (Hip 285), a 5-year-old Siyouni  three-parts sister to Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (G1) winner Maarek . Unraced, she has a yearling filly by Mekhtaal  and is in foal to Toronado .

Wootton Bassett 's rise to the summit of European bloodstock was built on French foundations and although he now resides in Ireland there are still nuggets waiting to be discovered at Arqana.

Haras de la Haie Neuve presents a weanling half sister to Gold Trip  (Hip 148), winner of the Prix Greffulhe (G2) who was last season placed in the Prix Ganay (G1) and Grand Prix de Saint Cloud (G1).

From Haras du Mont dit Mont comes Glittering Crystal (Hip 190), a Wootton Bassett half sister to the redoubtable Lord Glitters , the Queen Anne (G1) and Jebel Hatta Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) winner who claimed a second successive Singspiel Stakes Presented by Race of UAE Innovates (G2) last Friday. 

My Rosie (Hip 234) offers an excellent pedigree and has some exciting runners to come. The 8-year-old daughter of Redoute's Choice  is a half sister to Stanleybet Sprint Cup (G1) winner Tante Rose  and to Rosie's Posy, dam of group 1 winners Dubawi Heights  and Make Believe .

She has a 4-year-old son by Frankel  in training in the United States, as is her 3-year-old Siyouni filly, while her 2-year-old Lope de Vega  colt is in Ireland and she has a yearling colt by Night of Thunder .
