Diamond Oops wins the 2021 Hollywood Lakes Stakes at Gulfstream Park

Grass horses speed into action Feb. 19 at Tampa Bay Downs, with a pair of $100,000, five-furlong races highlighting a 10-race "Turf Sprint Showcase Day" card. 

The Turf Dash Stakes for older males goes as the 10th race, luring a field of 11, headed by 7-year-old gelding Diamond Oops , a multiple graded stakes winner with career earnings of more than $1.3 million.

Owned by Diamond 100 Racing Club, Amy E. Dunne, D P Racing, and Patrick L. Biancone Racing and trained by Biancone, Diamond Oops will break from the 4 post under jockey Romero Maragh.

Diamond Oops is cross-entered in the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, which also runs on Saturday. 

The afternoon's other stakes is the Lightning City Stakes for older fillies and mares, which goes off about a hour earlier as the eighth race. Heading the 12-horse field (plus two also-eligibles) is Payntdembluesaway , a 6-year-old mare who won the Claiming Crown Distaff Dash Starter Stakes on Dec. 4 at Gulfstream Park in gate-to-wire fashion at five furlongs on turf

Owned by All My Hart Racing and trained by Jane Cibelli, Payntdembluesaway is 8-for-14 and has Pablo Morales in the saddle Saturday when she breaks from post 10. 

The Lightning City field also includes 4-year-old filly Mamba Wamba , who is trained by Brian Lynch and will be ridden by Julien Leparoux.

The purse money for both races includes $25,000 in Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' & Owners' Association stakes funds for registered Florida-breds.
