Nominations for the five yearling sales organized by Arqana in Deauville in 2022 are now open, with a closing date of Friday, March 11. A new sales calendar for the yearling sales has also been created this year.
The August Yearling Sale (Aug. 13-15) Takes on a New Dimension
As the first sale of the year bringing together the cream of European yearlings, the August Sale is a historic event for buyers from all over the world. In 2021, it hosted the world's top yearling price, a daughter of Dubawi out of Typique, offered by Haras d'Etreham and sold for €2,400,000 (US$2,831,061) to Charles Gordon-Watson. Both the top priced yearling colt and filly in Europe last year went through the ring at Deauville, and almost 30 lots made €300,000 or more, 85% of which were bred in France.
This year, a unique selection will be offered to an international clientele over three days, punctuated by a superb weekend of racing. The sale will be based around the exceptional Deauville-La Touques race program:
* Saturday, Aug. 13: the sale will take place over the whole day
* Sunday and Monday, Aug. 14-15: the sale will begin at the end of the afternoon, with the prestigious Prix Jacques le Marois (G1) taking place on Sunday and the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano (G2) on Monday.
An exceptional program of events to match the quality of the catalog will also be organized to offer an unforgettable experience to both buyers and sellers.
September Yearling Sale (Sept. 8-9): A New Date to Highlight French Breeding
Initially taking place following the August Sale, the v.2 Yearling Sale will now be held over two days to attract more yearlings selected for their precocious conformation. This new event will take place at the beginning of September in Deauville to highlight the yearlings on offer.
October Yearling Sale (Oct. 17-21): The Major Event for French Breeding
The October Yearling Sale has become a must for French production and will be held again this year over five days, from Oct. 17-21. In 2021, 62 yearlings were sold for €100,000 or more at this constantly evolving sale, which recorded an 84% clearance rate and an historic average price of €45,000, including €89,000 for the first day, Part I of the catalog.
November Yearling Sale (Nov. 12): Final Opportunity of the Season for Flat-Bred Yearlings
Taking place just a few days before the Autumn Sale, the November Yearling Sale is the final sale of the season that offers flat-bred yearlings. The 2021 edition held its position with a clearance rate of 81% and an average of €6,332.
Autumn Sale (Nov. 15): The Cream of National Hunt-Bred Yearlings
Taking place in the middle of a sales week dedicated to jumping, the National Hunt yearling market at the Autumn Sale recorded very good results in 2021: 80% of the lots offered were sold for an average price of €28,000.
