Stonestreet Stables' homebred La Crete  has successfully undergone surgery to repair a condylar fracture in her right front leg that she sustained Feb. 19 in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes Presented by Fasig-Tipton (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. The 3-year-old Medaglia d'Oro   filly was in the lead approaching the half-mile point of the 1 1/16-mile race when Eclipse Award-winning jockey Joel Rosario pulled her up quickly while managing the other horses in the field.

"La Crete had a successful surgery at (Louisiana State University) yesterday to repair a condylar fracture. She is doing very well this morning. She will return to the farm once she is cleared to travel. Thank you to everyone who has taken care of our girl," Stonestreet wrote on Twitter Feb. 21.

La Crete is the second foal out of Cavorting  (Bernardini), a multiple grade 1 winner of over $2 million for Stonestreet. Cavorting's first foal, Clairiere  (Curlin  ), won the Cotillion Stakes (G1) along with the Rachel Alexandra Stakes last year and has been working steadily at Fair Grounds towards her 4-year-old debut.

Saturday's race was La Crete's third start for Hall of Fame trainer Steven Asmussen. In November, she won first time out in a maiden special weight at Churchill Downs and began this year with a victory in the Jan.22 Silverbulletday Stakes at Fair Grounds.
