One of Crestwood Farm's stallions Yorkton 's first reported foals is an Indiana-bred colt born Feb. 3 out of Bayerly Seen (Bayern —Overseen, by First Defense) was born at Arrowhead Thoroughbred Center near Fairland, Ind.
Bayerly Seen is a stakes-placed half sister to Peter Cantrell's Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) hopeful and Lecomte Stakes (G3) winner Call Me Midnight (Midnight Lute ).
"This colt is very correct, and has been the best foal to be the first one born on our farm," said farm co-owner Brandi Steele. "Momma is a wonderful maiden and handles his feisty attitude very well."
The colt was bred by Lonnie Reynolds of Owensboro, Ky. Reynolds has been breeding Thoroughbreds for seven years, two of those while participating in the Indiana Thoroughbred Breed Development Program.
Yorkton raced from ages 2-6 in Ontario and along the East Coast of the United States for owner/breeder Chiefswood Stables. The son of Speightstown collected victories in the back-to-back victories in the Bold Venture Stakes (G3) on Woodbine's synthetic course and was also a stakes winner and graded stakes-placed on the turf there. From 30 starts, he earned $546,332 and a 7-4-3 record. He is a half brother to 2021 Gotham Stakes (G3) winner Weyburn .
Yorkton entered stud in 2021 at Crestwood Farm near Lexington and stands this season for an advertised fee of $5,000.
