Moquest, a full brother to champion and sire Nyquist , has been retired to Milky Way Farm in Del Mar, Calif. for the 2022 breeding season.
The 3-year-old colt is by leading sire Uncle Mo , who's progeny have won over $80 million in earnings and has sired 42 graded stakes winners.
Moquest's brother Nyquist is the leading cumulative second-crop sire by progeny earnings in North America with 11 graded stakes-winning 2-year-olds from his first two crops. Nyquist is the sire of 2022 Kentucky Derby contender Slow Down Andy , winner of the 2021 Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) and Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) contenders Turnerloose and Awake At Midnyte .
Both Moquest and Nyquist are out of the Forestry mare, Seeking Gabrielle. To date, her progeny have brought over $5.4 million in the sales ring. Forestry has also been an exceptional broodmare sire, producing 54 stakes winners in 2021.
Moquest, bred by Hinkle Farms in Kentucky, sold as a yearling to M V Magnier for $650,000 at the 2020 Keeneland September Sale when consigned by Hinkle Farms. An early training injury prevented the colt from ever starting on the oval and he was acquired by E.A.S. Equine Alliance for $32,000 at last year's Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale from the Hunter Valley consignment.
Moquest will be supported in the breeding shed by his owners E.A.S. Equine Alliance, by breeding several mares to him. He crosses exceptionally well with mares by Unusual Heat and Square Eddie .
He will stand for $4,500 LFSN for 2022.
