Kisses for Emily wins the Society Hill Stakes at Parx Racing

Bran Jam Stable and David W. Clark's New York-bred Kisses for Emily  became the first black type winner for her sire Union Jackson   when she surged to a one-length victory March 8 in the $100,000 Society Hill Stakes at Parx Racing.

The 3-year-old broke her maiden in the six-furlong dirt sprint for sophomore fillies in her sixth start when she surged from last in a five-horse field after getting bumped at the break. While Disco Ebo  and Starship Laoban  vied for the advantage through a quarter in :22.16 and a half in :45.76, jockey Dylan Davis found a rail trip around the turn aboard Kisses for Emily, then angled out to catch Starship Laoban inside the final sixteenth.

The Louis C. Linder Jr. trainee won in a final time of 1:13.29. Starship Laoban held for second and Disco Ebo was 4 1/2 lengths back in third. Six horses scratched due to a recent EHV-1 positive at Parx.

Bred by Sequel Stallions NY and Lakland Farm out of the unraced Malibu Moon mare Caldwell, Kisses for Emily was a $125,000 purchase by Mike Mellen from Sequel Bloodstock's consignment to the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

Union Jackson is a grade 3-placed, multiple stakes winner by Curlin   out of grade 1 winner Hot Dixie Chick . He stands the 2022 season at Sequel Stallions New York for an advertised fee of $2,500 live foal stands and nurses.
