Description:

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing's Mucho Macho Man breezed three furlongs at Gulfstream Park early the morning of Dec. 7, marking his first workout since capturing the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park Nov. 2.

The 5-year-old son of Macho Uno   was timed in :37.65 with regular exercise rider Nick Petro Jr. aboard.

"We just let him stretch his legs out a little bit," trainer Kathy Ritvo said. "He was off the rail. It went good."

Ritvo, owners Dean and Patti Reeves, and stable manager Finn Green had announced earlier in the week that Mucho Macho Man would remain in training for the 2014 racing season, with a possible first start at Gulfstream.

The Florida-bred defeated Travers Stakes (gr. I) and eventual Clark Handicap (gr. I) winner Will Take Charge by a nose in the Classic after prepping with a 4 1/4-length victory in the Awesome Again Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita. He showed his trainer all the right signs during his morning activity.

"He was very happy. He was bouncing around," said Ritvo, who expects her Classic winner to breeze again Dec. 14.
