Shadwell Racing shared on Twitter the first two races of the year for its 2021 champion 3-year-old filly Malathaat .

Trainer Todd Pletcher confirmed to Shadwell that the three-time grade 1-winning daughter of Curlin   will be aimed first for the $300,000 Baird Doubledogdare Stakes (G3) at Keeneland April 22 and then will be targeting the $500,000 Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) June 11 at Belmont Park.

Malathaat has been a fixture on the work tab at Palm Beach Downs Training Center since mid-February, with five breezes recorded since Feb. 18. Most recently she breezed four furlongs March 13 in :49.50 and five furlongs in 1:02.82, similar to her conditioning leading up to her 2021 campaign that produced three grade 1 wins from five starts.

The bay filly out of grade 1 winner Dreaming of Julia started her 3-year-old campaign at Keeneland where she won the Central Bank Ashland Stakes (G1) and followed with a victory in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1). She went on to win the Alabama Stakes (G1) and placed in the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) and Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1).

Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Shadwell bought Malathaat for $1.05 million at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of the Denali Stud consignment. She has earned $1,735,150 so far.
