Adare Manor wins the Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Adare Manor , a 3-year-old filly who has won her two 2022 starts by a combined 25 lengths, has moved to the barn of trainer Tim Yakteen with the goal of starting in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Michael Lund Petersen's daughter of Uncle Mo   had raced for trainer Bob Baffert and joins a growing list of horses leaving the Hall of Famer's barn because of a pending 90-day suspension that starts April 4.

Yakteen said via text that Adare Manor would start in the April 9 Santa Anita Oaks (G2) in hopes of gaining enough qualifying points to run in the May 6 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. The Santa Anita Oaks will award 100-40-20-10 qualifying points to the top four finishers and winning or checking in second would assure Adare Manor a spot in the Kentucky Oaks field.

As a result of 2021 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) winner Medina Spirit 's disqualification for a failed post-race drug test, Baffert has been barred from racing at Churchill Downs for a two-year period and horses trained by him are ineligible for Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks qualifying points.

The change in trainers was initially reported by Daily Racing Form.
