Gold Square's Cyberknife took the lead on the final turn and held off stretch bids by Barber Road and filly Secret Oath to win the 86th running of the $1.25 million Arkansas Derby (G1) for 3-year-olds April 2 at Oaklawn Park.
The victory was worth 100 qualifying points for the May 7 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1), ensuring Cyberknife a spot in the Run for the Roses.
Barber Road was second, with 7-5 favorite Secret Oath third, and Doppelganger fourth. They received 40-20-10 qualifying points in descending order.
A son of Gun Runner , Cyberknife was ridden by Florent Geroux and trained by Brad Cox. Bred by Ken and Sarah Ramsey in Kentucky, he returned $13.60 to win.
