Kaleem Shah's Dortmund breezed five furlongs in a bullet :58 4/5 April 18 at Santa Anita Park in his second-to-last timed workout in preparation for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
The undefeated son of Big Brown trained by Bob Baffert worked in the company of two other horses, and his finishing time was tied for the fastest move at the distance with the Philip D'Amato-trained mare Hail Mary.
"It was a good experience for him," jockey Martin Garcia said. "In between horses—no problem. He got a little bit dirty—no problem."
It was Dortmund's first breeze since his Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) victory April 4 and Baffert said he will ship the colt to Kentucky April 21.
"He'll breeze once (at Churchill Downs)," Baffert said.
