Cairo Prince, Lope de Vega Fillies Fire Bullets at OBS

Fillies by Cairo Prince   and Lope de Vega  worked eighths in :09 4/5 to share honors for the fastest works at the distance at the fifth session of the Under Tack Show for Ocala Breeders' Sales' 2022 Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. Halted around 9:00 a.m. ET due to heavy rain, the breeze show was suspended for just under three hours, but resumed around noon and concluded at 4:00 p.m.

Hip 839, a gray or roan filly by Cairo Prince consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, is a half sister to graded stakes winner Gibberish  out of the unraced Pulpit mare Nippy. Nippy is related to graded winners Well Monied  and Economic Model .

Hip 859, consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, is an Irish-bred filly by Lope de Vega  out of group 3 stakes winner Pour Moi  mare Only Mine . Hip 859's first and second dams were both black-type winners overseas.

A pair of 2-year-olds turned in the session's fastest quarters, stopping the timer in :21: Hip 851 and Hip 864.

The former, a gray or roan colt by Tapwrit   consigned by Eddie Woods, is out of Notional  mare Oh Kay See , a half sister to grade 1 stakes winner So Many Ways. Hip 851's half brother, 4-year-old Elector (Constitution  ) was a seven-furlong maiden winner in 1:23.21 at Santa Anita Park in February for trainer John Sadler.

Hip 864, consigned by Pick View,  is a chestnut filly by Dortmund  out of the winning Wilbur n mare Our Conquistadora , a half sister to graded stakes-placed Augment .

There was one quarter in :21 1/5, turned in by Hip 799, a bay colt by Uncaptured . Consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm and out of the Grand Slam mare Moonshot , Hip 799 is a half brother to stakes-placed Rufa Red Knot  and Full Moon's Back .

Three horses worked quarters in :21 2/5, and 20 horses turned in eighths in :10.

The Under Tack Show continues April 15 at 8 a.m. ET with Hips 881-1056 scheduled to breeze. The works will be streamed live on the OBS and BloodHorse websites.
