Simplification breezes April 15 under Junior Alvarado at Gulfstream Park

Tami Bobo's Simplification  breezed an easy five furlongs April 15 at Gulfstream Park in preparation for a scheduled start in the May 7 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) at Churchill Downs. The son of Not This Time   was clocked in 1:01.83 in his first workout since finishing third in the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby Presented by Hill 'n' Dale Farms at Xalapa (G1) at Gulfstream April 2.

"He galloped out six furlongs in 1:15 3/5, the seven furlongs in 1:27, and the mile in 1:40," trainer Antonio Sano said. "Excellent."

Jockey Junior Alvarado was aboard for the breeze, subbing for Jose Ortiz. 

Simplification ranks ninth on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard with 74 qualifying points, assuring the Florida-bred colt a place in the 20-horse field. Prior to his third-place finish in the Florida Derby, he won the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream.

Simplification is scheduled to work the next two Fridays at Gulfstream before shipping to Churchill Downs April 29.

Elsewhere in South Florida, Charge It  (four furlongs in :47.77) and Pioneer of Medina  (five furlongs in 1:00.41) worked at Palm Beach Downs for trainer Todd Pletcher. Charge It is currently 19th on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard with 40 points, Pioneer of Medina 22nd with 25.

White Abarrio , the Florida Derby winner who ranks third with 112 points, is scheduled to breeze three furlongs at Gulfstream April 16 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.
