The Girvin colt consigned as Hip 1004 works a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 at under tack show at the OBS Spring Sale

A son of Ocala Stud's freshman sire Girvin   (Hip 1004) consigned by Jesse Hoppel's Coastal Equine as agent, worked the fastest quarter-mile in :20 3/5 during the April 15 sixth session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale's under tack show. The work was the third-fastest time overall at the distance so far, with the final under tack session to be held April 16.

The bay Girvin colt is out of the winning Smarty Jones mare Sarah Cataldo, making him a half brother to stakes-winning OBS graduate Tiger Blood  (Cowtown Cat  ) and stakes-placed winner Smarten Up  (American Freedom  ).

Five horses shared honors for the session's fastest eighth-mile works of :09 4/5.

  • Hip 1017, a bay filly by Bolt d'Oro   consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, is out of graded stakes- placed stakes winner Scorpio Queen , by Choisir, from the family of group 1 stakes winner Toledo.
  • Hip 1048, consigned by Top Line Sales, agent, is a chestnut filly by Midshipman   out of stakes- placed Sheza Runaway Star, by Pride of Burkaan, a half sister to millionaire stakes-winning OBS graduate Rivers Run Deep.

Saturday's final under tack show starts at 8:00 a.m. with Hips 1057-1231 scheduled to breeze. The works are streamed live via the OBS website and also via the BloodHorse website. The sale is being held April 19-22.
