Carr Sent to Hospital After GGF Mishap

Description:

Jockey Dennis Carr was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland, Calif. April 19 after sustaining a blow to the back of his head when he was unseated by 3-year-old gelding Sharpton in the starting gate prior to the fifth race at Golden Gate Fields

Carr was pitched out of the back of the gate when Sharpton reared up wildly. Sharpton was scratched from the race.

Dr. David Seftel, the track physician at Golden Gate, said Carr came out of the incident with a "significant headache," and had the rider transported to the hospital for a precautionary CT-scan and further evaluation.
