Change of Control works April 26 at Churchill Downs

Churchill Downs' Thurby card May 5 features a pair of turf stakes, including the $200,000 listed Unbridled Sidney Stakes going 5 1/2 furlongs.

Turf sprint specialist Change of Control  is the 3-1 morning-line favorite among an evenly matched field of nine fillies and mares entered in the Unbridled Sidney. Perry Harrison's 6-year-old daughter of Fed Biz   has a liking for Churchill Downs, with a record of three wins and two seconds out of seven starts at the Louisville, Ky., track. She has also won or placed 15 times out of 20 starts at the distance and has won or placed 18 times of 25 starts on the grass.

Change of Control comes into the race off a good fourth in the Giant's Causeway Stakes at Keeneland April 16 behind multiple group 1 winner Campanelle . She just missed third place by a nose to Klein Racing's homebred stakes winner Goin' Good , who is the 7-2 morning-line second choice in the Unbridled Sidney. Michelle Lovell trains Change of Control, who will be ridden from post 5 by Colby Hernandez and carrying 122 pounds.

Goin' Good is trained by Brad Cox and will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione from post 7. The 4-year-old filly by Congrats  has finished ahead of Change of Control in her most recent two starts. She was second in the March 1 Mardi Gras Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and 3 1/4 lengths ahead of Change of Control in third. She also will be carrying 122 pounds.

Another top contender in the field is Castleton Lyons' Brooke Marie , who comes into the stakes off a win in the 6 1/2-furlong Monrovia Stakes (G2T) April 9 at Santa Anita Park. The 6-year-old mare by Lemon Drop Kid  is trained by Eddie Kenneally and will be ridden by Luis Saez. They will break from post 2 and are the highweight in the field at 126.

Juddmonte's Set Piece  returns to the site of her trio of turf stakes victories in the $160,000 Opening Verse Overnight Stakes. The 6-year-old gelded son of Dansili  won the Opening Verse Overnight Stakes last April at one mile and the Douglas Park Overnight Stakes last May and followed with a win in the Wise Dan Stakes (G2T), both at 1 1/16 miles, all at Churchill Downs.

Trained by Cox, Set Piece has four wins from five starts at Churchill Downs. He will be ridden by Florent Geroux and break from post 6. All 12 entries in the field will carry 118 pounds.

Rob Comestro and Jeff Ganje's Beatbox  looks competitive in this spot although his last four starts have been on Turfway Park's all-weather main track. Still, he's won three of those most recent starts—two at the Opening Verse distance of a mile and one in the 8 1/2 furlong Dust Commander Stakes, in which he beat Mr Dumas  by 2 3/4 lengths. Mr Dumas is the 4-1 morning-line second choice in the Opening Verse.

William Morey trains Beatbox, a 4-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile , who will be ridden by Flavien Prat and break from post 2.
