Back with females after a third-place finish in the Arkansas Derby (G1), Briland Farm's Secret Oath  swooped past the field with a second-turn rally for a two-length win in the $1.25 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) May 6 at Churchill Downs.

Favored Nest  ran second by a half-length, while California raider Desert Dawn  edged champion Echo Zulu  by the same margin for the show. Kathleen O.  was fifth.

The winner raced 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.44 following swift fractions of :22.45, :46.51, and 1:11.44 set by Yuugiri  under pressure from Echo Zulu.

Luis Saez rode the winner for Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Secret Oath gave Lukas his fifth victory in the Oaks, tying Woody Stevens for most wins by a trainer. Lukas' four prior wins came from 1982-90.
