Twilight Gleaming (Gold silks) wins the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar

Stonestreet Stables' Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2T) winner Twilight Gleaming  is set to face 11 rivals in the $160,000 Mamzelle Overnight Stakes May 14 at Churchill Downs.

The five-furlong Mamzelle, run over the Matt Winn Turf Course, is carded as race nine of 11 with a post time of 10:11 p.m. ET. First post for the evening card is 6:00 p.m.

The speedy Twilight Gleaming, trained by Wesley Ward, scored a half-length victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar last season. The daughter of National Defense  made her 3-year-old debut last month in the Palisades Stakes at Keeneland, where she was narrowly defeated when second as the 4-5 favorite. Tyler Gaffalione has the mount Saturday breaking from post 5.

While she has a start this year, Mystic Eyes  does not. The show finisher from the 2021 Matron Stakes (G3T) makes her first start at 3 for trainer Todd Pletcher after her last outing produced a win at Belmont Park in the Stewart Manor Stakes Nov. 6.

Artos  has experience against Twilight Gleaming, having run fourth in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) last summer at Royal Ascot when Twilight Gleaming was second. The Rusty Arnold trainee won a maiden race at Churchill last spring on the track's since replaced turf course and was ninth in the March 26 Melody of Colors Stakes in her 2022 debut this year at Gulfstream Park after being bumped at the start.
