Motion to Send out Kitten's Point in Bewitch

After racing evenly when finishing third in the 1 1/2-mile Orchid Stakes (gr. IIIT) March 28 on the Gulfstream Park turf, Kitten's Point will try the same distance Friday, April 24 in the $150,000 Bewitch Stakes (gr. IIIT) on the grass at Keeneland.

The Augustin Stable homebred will be looking for her second stakes win this season after opening the year with a clear victory in the 1 1/2-mile Astra Stakes Jan. 18 at Santa Anita Park. Kitten's Point, a 5-year-old Kitten's Joy   mare, will be looking to add her second grade III victory as she took the 2013 Herecomesthebride Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Gulfstream.

If Kitten's Point is able to win Friday, which is closing day of the Keeneland spring meet, she'll give trainer Graham Motion his third straight victory in the Bewitch. Motion saddled Inimitable Romanee to victory last year and Strathnaver in 2013.

Along with Orchid third-place finisher Kitten's Point, the field also includes Orchid runner-up Tabreed, a Sakhee mare who finished a half-length behind Beauty Parlor in that Orchid test; and Orchid fourth-place finisher White Rose, who in the fall won Keeneland's Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes.

While a full field of 14 horses and two also-eligibles is entered in Friday's race for older fillies and mares, the only horse who finished first in her previous start is Calumet Farm's Hellenistic, who drew post 14. A 4-year-old daughter of English Channel  , Hellenistic enters off an allowance race victory on the Gulfstream turf for trainer Chad Brown.

Starting from the inside in Friday's field is Lisa Lex's Lots o' Lex, who finished second but was moved to first by disqualification in an allowance-optional claiming race March 27 in a race at Tampa Bay Downs that was scheduled for the turf but moved to the main track.
