Becca Taylor wins the Spring Fever Stakes at Santa Anita Park

In compiling a 7-for-8 record and earning $319,160 for owner/breeder Nick Alexander, Becca Taylor  has won on dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces, taking maiden, allowance, and stakes races throughout California.

Now she pursues something else—a graded stakes victory—leading a field of five in the $100,000 Desert Stormer Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita Park June 4. The six-furlong dash, carded as the second race on a nine-race card, also lured Dance to the Music , Dynasty of Her Own , Annie Graham , and Samurai Charm .

Though Becca Taylor has not yet raced in graded company, she is quick enough to contend. She has earned Equibase Speed Figures of 98 or higher in four straight races, including in her lone defeat when beaten a nose on turf in the March 19 Irish O'Brien Stakes. Most recently, she won a May 7 allowance on Tapeta at Golden Gate Fields by a length.

The 4-year-old daughter of Old Topper  is a dual stakes winner on dirt against California-breds at Santa Anita.

Trainer Steve Miyadi and Alexander also run Annie Graham in the short field.

Later in the seventh race on Saturday, Santa Anita stages the $100,000 Cinema Stakes, where Balnikhov  is a prohibitive favorite against four rivals after a runner-up finish in the American Turf Stakes Presented by BMW (G2T) at Churchill Downs May 7. He adds blinkers in the 1 1/8-mile turf race.
