The Adios Charlie filly consigned as Hip 116 works a quarter-mile in : 21 flat during the under tack show at the OBS June Sale
The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company June Sale of 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age under tack show got underway May 30 with a daughter of Adios Charlie (Hip 116) turning in the fastest time during the opening session, drilling a quarter-mile in :21 flat for consignor Ocala Stud.
The bay filly is out of the stakes-placed Miss Melinda, by Malibu Moon, a daughter of the graded stakes-placed French runner, Black Escort . The juvenile was bred in Florida by Ocala Stud, O'Farrell & Sons, LP, and J. Michael O'Farrell Jr, this is the first time through the sales ring for her.
Nine horses shared the co-fastest furlong, stopping the clock in :10 flat on Memorial Day.
Hip 2, Gambito, a bay colt by Astern consigned by Fast Horses is half brother to 2021 Chilean Champion 3-year-old filly, La Poetisa out of grade one stakes winner La Dalila , winner in the 2012 Las Oaks Carlos Hirmas Atala (G1T). Ramon Minguet purchased the colt from Brookdale Sales for $6,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale last year.
Hip 9, a dark bay or brown colt by Army Mule consigned by Wavertree Stables, is out of Lady Halite, by Medaglia d'Oro, from the family of graded stakes-winning 2006 OBS graduate Buffalo Man, by El Prado. Most recently he sold from consignor Beth Bayer at the OBS Winter Mixed Sale for $60,000 to Jackman Bottom Trading Co. in 2021.
Hip 23, consigned by Shooting Star Sales is a chestnut colt by Bucchero out of the unraced Soldat mare, Law of Attraction, from the family of graded stakes winner Native Bombshell. The colt was sold during the OBS October Yearling Sale last season for $35,000 from the Abbie Road Farm banner to Shooting Star.
Hip 36, a bay colt by Astern consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales is out of Lexi Tap, a winner by Pleasant Tap, a half sister to grade 2 and 3 stakes winner Irish Jasper. McKathan sourced the then yearling from Susan Y. Foreman's consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale in 2021 for $60,000.
Hip 37, consigned by Wavertree Stables, is a dark bay or brown filly by Girvin out of Libbyris, by Algorithms, out of grade 3 winner, Elusive Diva . Libbyris was exported to Turkey in 2021 and is a half sister to 2017-18 Champion male sprinter and grade 1 winner, Roy H. As a yearling the colt was an RNA at $85,000 from the Woods Edge Farm draft at the Keeneland September Sale.
Hip 82, a dark bay or brown filly by Candy Ride consigned by de Meric Sales, is out of Malhama, by Tiznow, from the family of 1994 Champion grass horse, Paradise Creek. This is the colt's first trip through the sales ring.
Hip 112, consigned by Centofanti Thoroughbreds, is a bay filly by leading sire Into Mischief out of stakes winner Miss Hollywood, a daughter of multiple grade one winner Hollywood Story . Summerfield consigned the filly to the Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga Select Yearling Sale where she changed hands for $400,000 to Brittlyn Stables in 2021.
Hip 130, a dark bay or brown filly by Bayern consigned by Paul Sharp, is a half sister to graded stakes placed and stakes winner Bishop's Pond out of stakes winner More for Me , by More Than Ready. Jason Hall plucked the Kentucky-bred from the Castle Park Farm offering at the Keeneland September Sale for $42,000 last season.
Hip 164, Roll On Big Joe, consigned by Gayle Woods, is a colt by Prospective out of Nina's Gift, a winner by Victory Gallop, from the family of grade one stakes winner on the turf in his native Brazil Norway Boy. This will be the colt's first appearance in the sales arena.

The under tack show continues May 31 at 7:30 a.m. (ET) with Hips 188 - 374 scheduled to breeze and will continue through June 4. You can catch the under tack show streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com, and via BloodHorse.com.
Under tack results and videos are posted on the OBS website at obssales.com and can be viewed on kiosks in the breezeway and in the Video Room adjacent to the Horsemen's Lounge. In-room viewing is available at The Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton.

The three-day sale begins June 7 at 10 a.m. with Hips 1-374 followed by Hips 375-748 selling June 8, the sale concludes with Hips 749-1167 (including supplemental entries) June 9. As of Monday evening there are 129 horses withdrawn from the sale.
