An Irish War Cry filly consigned by Thorostock as Hip 795 breezed an eighth in :09 4/5 to post the fastest work at the distance at the fifth session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales' 2022 June Sale of 2-Year Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. She is one of just two horses to cover a furlong in less than :10 over the five under tack shows, the other being Hip 560, who did so earlier in the week.
Hip 795, a half sister to stakes-placed Jamaican Don , is out of the Medallist mare D D Renegade from the family of grade 1 stakes winner Lite Light . Jamaican Don ran second in the Maryland Million Nursery Stakes for Maryland-breds at Laurel Park in 2017. Jamaican Don won five of 20 races and earned $117,393.
Irish War Cry, who entered stud in 2019 after earning more than $1.2 million, stands for $6,500 at Northview Stallion Station in Maryland. Two of his progeny have raced, led by She's So Fly , fourth on debut in a maiden special weight race at Laurel Park April 30.
Three horses shared honors for the session's fastest quarter, clocked in :20 4/5. They included:
One horse worked three furlongs: Hip 792, a son of Good Magic , who went the distance in :33 3/5. The fastest three-furlong workout of the under tack shows was a :33 1/5 move by a Constitution colt (Hip 634) June 2. The Bold Arrow Thoroughbreds-consigned Good Magic juvenile is out of Dark Before Dawn (Ghostzapper ), a half sister to stakes winner Dashing Debby .
Five horses turned in eighths in :10, and a pair of youngsters breezed quarters in :21 1/5 to fall just off the pace of the under tack session time leaders.
The Under Tack Show's final session begins June 4 at 7:30 a.m. ET. The four supplements to the sale will also appear during the closing under tack session.
