The OBS June Sale

The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company June Sale of 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age saw a steady trickle of bidding during the opening session June 7, with a filly by Spendthrift Farm's freshman sire Bolt d'Oro   leading the day at $290,000, selling to Greg and Caroline Bentley.

The Niall Brennan Stables consigned filly (Hip 191) breezed a furlong in :10 flat during the under tack preview last week to be the co-fastest of her session. Out of the stakes winner Over the Edge , the filly is half sibling to grade 2-placed Top of Mind  (by Curlin  ) and the stakes-placed Stormy Holiday  (by Harlan's Holiday). The Kentucky-bred filly was sourced by Ryston Stables from last season's Keeneland September Sale for $75,000 from the Castle Park Farm draft.

The Bentleys were the session 1 leading buyers with their single purchase.

Lexington bloodstock agent Donato Lanni signed the slip for his new clients based in Pennsylvania.

"It's been a very, very tough year," Lanni said. "I love coming to the June sale. It's a typical June sale; you have to try to find them. There is a horse in June for everybody. There's a horse out there for all different levels. You just have to get through them all and do a lot of research."
