Golden Pegasus Racing and Earle Mack's Bolo recorded his final timed workout in preparation for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) the morning of April 24 at Santa Anita Park, breezing five furlongs in company in :59 3/5.

It was the first time Derby jockey Rafael Bejarano was abard the Temple City   colt and trainer Carla Gaines actually had the workout time a couple ticks slower at 1:00 flat, with the six furlong gallop out in 1:12 and seven furlongs in 1:26 1/5.

Gaines was initially displeased with the beginning of the work, when Bejarano had to get a tight hold of the colt when breaking off behind a stablemate to start, but was ultimately happy with the result.

"A minutethat's what I wanted," Gaines said. "The other horse started kinda slowly and I didn't want (Bejarano) to grab him, but he settled down."

The trainer said the colt who finished in third behind Dortmund in both the San Felipe Stakes (gr. II) and Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) will ship to Kentucky April 26.
