After a six-furlong bullet workout in 1:10 4/5 from the gate at Santa Anita Park April 25, trainer Bob Baffert is mulling over Bayern's options for Kentucky Derby Week.

The conditioner said he's considering both the $400,000 Alysheba Stakes (gr. II) at 1 1/16 miles May 1 and the $500,000 Churchill Downs Stakes (gr. II) at seven furlongs May 2 for son of Offlee Wild  's 4-year-old debut.

"We asked him for a little bit more and he looked good," Baffert said of the drill, which the trainer timed at 1:23 4/5 through the gallop out to seven furlongs. "I might be leaning toward the Alysheba."

Owned by Kaleem Shah, Bayern won the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) in November last time out, but has been working his way back from an abscess on one of his hind feet.
