Robert and Lawana Low's three-time winner My Prankster, who captured the Swale Stakes (G3) in February at Gulfstream Park, has experience at Maxfield's seven-furlong distance.
Most recently, he ran third behind Jack Christopher and Pappacap in the Pat Day Mile Stakes Presented by LG&E and KU (G2) when last in action May 7 at Churchill Downs. The Todd Pletcher trainee, a son of Into Mischief , is 3-1-1 in seven starts with earnings of $274,030.
My Prankster and Gunite met last fall with My Prankster finishing fourth and Gunite fifth in the Champagne Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.
Gunite, a 3-year-old Gun Runner colt owned and bred by Winchell Thoroughbreds, captured the Hopeful Stakes (G1) last summer at Saratoga Race Course before disappointing in the Champagne. He has a single start since for trainer Steve Asmussen, a runner-up finish in a quick allowance optional claiming race at Churchill June 3.
Tejano Twist , Overtaxed , Burninhunkoflove , and Hoist the Gold complete the field.
The Maxfield Stakes is the Sunday co-feature with the one-mile Anchorage Overnight Stakes, a race moved to dirt this week by Churchill Downs officials due to continued issues with the track's turf course. The five-horse lineup is led by The Mary Rose , Li'l Tootsie , and Will's Secret .
