Undefeated multiple grade 1 winner Flightline returned to the work tab July 9 at Santa Anita Park, cruising four furlongs in an official time of :47. The breeze was the first since the dominant 4-year-old Tapit colt took the June 11 Hill 'N' Dale Metropolitan Handicap (G1) at Belmont Park by six lengths.

Trainer John Sadler did not immediately return calls from BloodHorse regarding details of the Saturday breeze.
The lightly-raced race Flightline won two starts as a 3-year-old last spring and summer before capturing the Runhappy Malibu Stakes (G1) in late December. The Met Mile was his lone start of 2022 for owners Hronis Racing, Siena Farm, Summer Wind Equine, West Point Thoroughbreds, and Woodford Racing.
According to the West Point Thoroughbreds website, The TVG Pacific Classic (G1) Sept. 3 at Del Mar is the next target for Flightline, the top-ranked horse on the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top Thoroughbred Poll.
At 1 1/4 miles, the Pacific Classic would mark the longest race of Flightline's career. He has not yet run beyond a one-turn mile, though his connections are confident in his ability to stretch out.
The Pacific Classic is a "Win and You're In" qualifier for the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Keeneland Nov. 5.
