Nashwa wins the Prix de Diane at Chantilly

Baaeed  is unlikely to be the only big favorite in a group 1 at Glorious Goodwood next week as Nashwa 's Qatar Nassau Stakes (G1) task has been made easier by the defections of stablemate Inspiral  and La Petite Coco .

The Prix Jacques Le Marois (G1) is under consideration for Inspiral following her shock first defeat in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (G1), while Pretty Polly Stakes (G1) scorer La Petite Coco, who was similarly prominent in the ante-post betting for the Nassau, was scratched from the feature event on day three.

Coronation Stakes (G1) heroine Inspiral, trained by John and Thady Gosden, was beaten at odds of 1-7 by Prosperous Voyage  at Newmarket's July festival and has been given an extended break prior to a possible crack at the Grand Prix de Deauville (G1) Aug. 14.

Chris Richardson, managing director of owner/breeders Cheveley Park Stud, said: "Inspiral seems to have come out of the race well and has been given a freshen up. We haven't finalized plans but the Jacques Le Marois is under consideration. We wanted to give her a good four- or five-week break between the races so it slots in well."

Sacred , who ran a fine race on her return when a length fifth in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot, will be kept in the Lennox Stakes (G2) and Sussex Stakes (G1) at Glorious Goodwood at the six-day stage, with preference for the former on the opening day, while Twilight Calls  will bid to tee up a tilt at the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) in the King George Qatar Stakes (G2).

"We'll leave Sacred in both races but we're favoring the Lennox," Richardson said. "We'll look at the fields but seven furlongs is probably the ideal trip for her. She runs so well fresh and that's why she's run so few times—she's so game and we'll be spacing her races well.

"Twilight Calls will head to Goodwood and is improving with every run. We've had a very dry period and he bounces off this good ground."

The Prix de l'Opera (G1) and a first trip to the Breeders' Cup are among potential end-of-season targets for Nashwa, who became Imad Al Sagar's first homebred classic winner at Blue Diamond Stud when landing the Prix de Diane Longines (G1) just 16 days after finishing third in the Cazoo Oaks (G1).

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Al Sagar, said: "Nashwa is on course for the Nassau and everything has been straightforward since the Prix de Diane. It was her first time traveling and a learning curve for her but she took it well and a mile and a quarter seems to be her best trip.

"Imad is excited about going to Goodwood and she goes there in good order," Grimthorpe said. "She has a lot of nice options for the rest of the year—the Prix de l'Opera and the Breeders' Cup will certainly come into her range as well as possibly taking on the colts in mile-and-a-quarter group 1s—but we'll weigh it up nearer the time."
