The first impression that Klaravich Stables' Early Voting  made on the main track at Saratoga Race Course was a good one.

The winner of the Preakness Stakes (G1) had his first breeze at the Spa July 23 and covered five furlongs in 1:01.05. Early Voting worked in company with 3-year-old gelding Accretive , who is being pointed to the $200,000 Amsterdam (G2) July 31.

Brown also worked Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) winner Zandon  at the same time July 23. Both horses went out at 8:45 a.m. ET. Zandon, with exercise rider Kriss Bon aboard, went five furlongs by himself and was timed in 1:01.95. Zandon, a son of Upstart  , is owned by Jeff Drown.

Both horses are being pointed to the $600,000 Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga July 30.

"It was a nice easy work for (Zandon)," Brown said back at the barn. "I was really pleased with how he was moving. With Early Voting, I did a little bit more with him with a workmate. He went fabulous. As long as they come out of the works well, I'll be happy."

Brown and Ortiz scooted out of town at 10 a.m to catch a flight to Monmouth Park, where they were set to team up with Jack Christopher  in the $1 million TVG.com Haskell Stakes (G1) later in the day.

Ortiz has been on board Early Voting, a son of Gun Runner  , in all four of his starts, three of them wins. His lone defeat came in the Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by Resorts World Casino (G2) at Aqueduct Racetrack April 9. He lost by a neck to Mo Donegal .

Although this was the first main track work for Early Voting, he did have five works on the Oklahoma Training Track last fall.

"This was just a regular work for him." Ortiz said. "We went in 1:01 and a 1:13 gallop out. That is what we were looking for."
