Kimari 's stay in Saratoga will be a short one.
The 5-year-old mare, who won the $200,000 Honorable Miss Handicap (G2) at Saratoga Race Course July 27, will be heading back to trainer Wesley Ward's main base at Keeneland.
"She'll go in a few days," Ward said outside his barn on the Saratoga backstretch July 28.
Kimari, the 3-1 third choice in the Honorable Miss, won by a half-length over Frank's Rockette .
Owned by Jonathan Poulin, Westerberg, Mrs. John Magnier, Derrick Smith, and Michael B. Tabor, Kimari, a daughter of Munnings , went into the Honorable Miss as a mare with plenty of confidence from her trainer.
"When you get these horses and they are of that quality and they train well, and you are pointing for a race and you have so much time to point, and everything goes to plan, that is why the confidence is there," Ward said.
The ultimate goal for Kimari is the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Keeneland on Nov. 5. She won't run again until Oct. 8 when the Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) is run at Keeneland at six furlongs.
"I just wanted to get her back on track and now we'll get her back to our home track," Ward said. "She'll have around 60 days until the next one and that will lead her right into the Breeders' Cup."
Kimari has raced twice in the Breeders' Cup, finishing fourth in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2T) in 2019 and seventh in the Turf Sprint (G1T) last year.
