Sunset Glow Has Class Edge in Edgewood

Description:
Ten Broeck Farm's grade I winner Sunset Glow, runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT), will try to get back to the winner's circle in the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes (gr. IIIT) May 1 at Churchill Downs.

The 1 1/16-mile Edgewood, for 3-year-old fillies on turf, goes as race 6 on the 12-race Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) undercard, with an approximate post time of 1:26 p.m. ET.

Sunset Glow captured last year's Del Mar Debutante Stakes (gr. I) and Sorrento Stakes (gr. II) on the Del Mar Polytrack and closed the year with a second to Lady Eli after leading early in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Oct. 31 Santa Anita Park. Her 2015 bow for trainer Wesley Ward played nearly the sameshe set the early pace in the Appalachian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland before winner Lady Eli took charge over in the stretch for the victory. Sunset Glow yielded second to Miss Temple City, and will try to bounce back to her best Friday.

Destiny Oaks of Ocala, Wachtel Stable and Brous Stable's Quality Rocks looks for a second straight graded stakes win following her triumph in the Florida Oaks (gr. IIIT) March 7 at Gulfstream Park last time out. Trained by seven-time Edgewood winner Bill Mott, Quality Rocks has compiled a 3-2-0 record from six career starts, with her only off-the-board finish coming in a 10th-place finish in last year's Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners' Feathered looks for a stakes breakthrough after placing twice at the top level last year on dirt. Making her turf debut Friday, the daughter to Indian Charlie was most recently seventh in the Fantasy (gr. III) April 4 at Oaklawn Park and started her sophomore campaign the previous month when fourth in a Gulfstream optional claimer after chasing the early pace.

Last December, Feathered came up just a half-length short of overtaking pacesetter Take Charge Brandi in the Starlet Stakes (gr. I) at Los Alamitos Race Course. She was fourth behind the eventual champion filly in the 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) in November and was a commendable third behind By the Moon and Wonder Gal in the Frizette (gr. I) the previous month on a sloppy track at Belmont Park.

Also entered are Sweet Swingin, runner-up in the Herecomesthebride Stakes on Gulfstream's main track in February; French stakes winner My Year Is a Day; maiden winners B Rockett and Lady Zuzu, the latter a $1.225 million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling purchase; and maiden Flying Tipat.
