The catalog for the Tattersalls August Sale, which takes place Aug. 31, is now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. Numbering 360 lots, the Tattersalls August Sale comprises 246 colts and geldings in/out of training and 107 fillies in/out of training, as well as six broodmares.
This year's edition of the Tattersalls August Sale has again attracted consignments from many of the world's foremost owner/breeders, including Godolphin and Juddmonte, as well as drafts from many of the UK and Ireland's leading trainers.
Highlights of the catalog include the 3-year-old filly Rolling The Dice , who was third in the Cazoo May Hill Stakes (G2) as a 2-year-old and who comes from a deep Juddmonte family and last year's Jessica Harrington-trained Clipper Logistics Boomerang Mile Solonaway Stakes (G3) winner Real Appeal . The Richard Hughes-trained Brentford Hope has been placed in group races on multiple occasions and ran a very creditable fifth in the Aug. 6 Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes (G3) behind Anmaat whilst the Robert Cowell-trained Arecibo was placed in the Cazoo Temple Stakes (G2) earlier this year. The Roger Teal-trained Sea The Shells should also attract plenty of interest, having won three of his six starts, including his latest, earning a Timeform rating of 107.
Exciting 3-year-olds with plenty of potential include Gemma Tutty's colt Mostly Cloudy, whose five consecutive victories have earned him a Timeform rating of 99, whilst John Gosden's lightly raced Operating earned the same rating after winning his last two races from only four career starts. Hugo Palmer's Mr McCann, who was fourth in the Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen-German Two Thousand Guineas (G2) and won a competitive handicap at Haydock Aug. 6 off a mark of 99, also looks sure to have plenty of suitors.
Other 3-year-olds likely to capture the imagination of buyers include the Aidan O'Brien-trained Shark Bay who has won two of his last three starts and has a Timeform rating of 104, Malabu Drive, a Frankel colt who won at Killarney at his third and most recent start, and Green Team, the Owen Burrows-trained colt who finished midfield in the competitive Queen's Vase (G2) at Ascot Racecourse and is Timeform rated 98.
Baroda Stud consigns three of the six broodmares to be offered, including the listed winning Le Havre mare Summer Surprice and the Shamardal mare Beautiful Gesture; both offered in foal to leading sire Australia . Baroda Stud also offers the listed-placed mare Madernia , in foal to Champion Australian sire Zoustar , whose first crop of Northern Hemisphere conceived runners include the Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes (G3) winner Lezoo .
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said, "The Tattersalls August Sale was introduced for the first time in 2020 in response to COVID-19-related circumstances, but the enthusiasm for the sale from both vendors and purchasers over the last two years has made it an easy decision to make it a permanent fixture. We are delighted to catalog 360 lots that will appeal to a wide cross-section of buyers, both domestic and further afield. The slightly reduced catalog size also means that the sale will be able to take place on just one day, Aug. 31."
