Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 279 entries for its California Fall Yearlings Sale, to be held Sept. 27, at Fairplex in Pomona, starting at 11 a.m. (PDT).

"We had a very strong sale last year, and as a result, breeders have supported us with increased numbers in 2022," said Fasig-Tipton California representative Mike Machowsky. "The vast majority of yearlings cataloged are California-bred, and the sire power represented is an attractive blend of leading local and national sires, as well as exciting young sires."

During last year's one-day sale, 177 of the 234 horses offered sold for gross receipts of $6,933,550, at an average price of $39,173 and a median of $20,000.

Fasig-Tipton will also offer a supplemental catalog of horses of racing age, to be sold immediately following the conclusion of the yearling catalog. The company is accepting horses of racing age nominations through Sept. 5.

"With Santa Anita offering a ship-and-win program for its autumn meet, we feel this is an attractive venue for horses from out of state that qualify for that program, in addition to horses that have been racing locally," Machowsky said. "The Santa Anita autumn meet begins three days after this sale, so the timing is perfect."
