Prank breaks her maiden at Saratoga Race Course

The season is over for Prank , the 2-year-old filly who showed so much promise in her smashing debut July 31 at Saratoga Race Course.

The daughter of Into Mischief   suffered a hairline fracture of her left front pastern and is probably out for the rest of the season.

The Todd Pletcher-trained filly won her debut, a 5 1/2-furlong test, by 9 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:03.94.

Prank is owned by StarLadies Racing, LNJ Foxwoods, and Gainesway Stable.

"Obviously, it is very disappointing," Laurie Wolf, managing partner of StarLadies Racing, said Saturday. "Todd said she was a little off."

Prank had surgery Friday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Her next goal had been the $300,000 Spinaway Stakes (G1) Sept. 4 at The Spa.

"Hopefully, she will come back better than ever," Wolf said. "We are just happy that she is OK. There are a lot of nice races for her as a 3-year-old. The horse always has to come first."
