Mandaloun at Churchill Downs
Trainer Brad Cox said that Juddmonte's Mandaloun , coming off a baffling fourth-place finish in the San Diego Handicap (G2) at Del Mar, will be back to work in the next week or so.
"He is doing well," Cox said of the son of Into Mischief . "We'll probably breeze him in the next week or so. He came out of the California race in great shape. We will get him on the tab and talk with the Juddmonte team and figure out a plan for him."
Mandaloun has raced four times this year and has one win, in the Louisiana Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots Jan. 22. He has missed the board in his other three starts, finishing ninth in the Saudi Cup (G1) at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Feb. 26 and fourth in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs July 2.
Cox said there is no definitive goal for Mandaloun, who was elevated to victory in the 2021 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) when Medina Spirit was disqualified.
"Physically, he has passed all our exams and looks fantastic," Cox said.
