The racing career did not last long for Not This Time . He ran only four times, his final start being a second in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) in 2016. A soft tissue injury to his right front leg sent him from the races to the breeding shed.
And what a career he has had. He is the leading third-crop stallion and will have a presence in the Aug. 27 Runhappy Travers at Saratoga Race Course. He is the sire of Winchell Thoroughbreds' Epicenter , the 7-5 morning-line favorite, as well as 20-1 Ain't Life Grand , owned by R P M Thoroughbreds.
Not This Time stands at Taylor Made Farm in Lexington for a $75,000 stud fee.
"We're obviously excited," Ben Taylor, president of Taylor Made Stallions, said. "He's looking like he's going to be at the top of the list, hopefully, for years to come."
Not This Time, who was trained by Dale Romans, is the sixth-leading sire overall. His other graded stakes winners this year include Tami Bobo and Tristan de Meric's Simplification in the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park; Sonata Stables' Arzak in the Jacques Cartier Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, and Warriors Reward and Commonwealth New Era Racing's Just One Time in the Madison Stakes (G1) at Keeneland and Inside Information Stakes (G2)) at Gulfstream.
"He's been successful so far," Taylor said. "He had a relatively low stud fee to start out with and the mares he's gotten for that stud fee, I thought, were good, but it's not like he was getting the overall cream of the crop mares. So, he's done a lot of this on his own."
Not This Time is by Giant's Causeway --Miss Macy Sue by Trippi . Miss Macy Sue is still at Taylor Made.
