Bringing together five horses in training, a filly, and a mare, the first edition of the August Online Sale took place Aug. 26. More than 50 bidders were present and at the origin of 106 bids.
Runner-up in the Aug. 7 Grand Handicap de Deauville in his latest start following three wins a row over 1,600 meters, Tornadic (Lot 1) was the top price of the sale. With a current rating of 95, the Jerome Reynier-trained gelding was sold for €150,000 (US$149,382) to Youssef Mohammed Alturaif (YMT Farm).
Tornadic is a 4-year-old son of Toronado out of the Dansili mare Fakhurr. He hails from the family of group 1 winners Old Vic and Millisle.
YMT Farm also struck for Sahib's Joy (Lot 2) for €85,000 ($84,677). Placed in his last eight starts, the group 3 winner at Dusseldorf with a current rating of 106 was offered from Peter Schiergen’s stables. Sahib's Joy is a 5-year-old son of Soldier Hollow and is produced from the Monsun mare So Squally, a half sister to John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) winner Shirocco and group 2 winner Subiaco.
Offered in foal to Goliath du Berlais (FR) by Haras de la Vastine, Firenza Bella (Lot 7) was sold for €31,000 ($30,885) to Busher Bloodstock. The daughter of Coastal Path is a half sister to Gaillard Du Mesnil.
Following the sale, Sudaf (Lot 4), a 3-year-old son of War Front trained by Jean-Claude Rouget who won his last start over 1,400 meters, was sold for €52,500 ($52,075) to John-Daniel Moore.
