Colt from Family of Newgate Joins Keeneland September

A Speightstown   colt who is a half brother to grade 2 winner My Majestic Rose  and from the family of impressive juvenile maiden winner Newgate  has been supplemented to the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Keeneland announced Aug. 26.

Scheduled to sell Sept. 12 on opening day of Book 1, the colt is consigned by St George Sales, agent, as Hip 182. Bred in Kentucky by Judy B. Hicks, he is out of the winning Pleasant Tap mare Victory On Tap  and is also from the family of Canadian grade 3 winner Victress .

Victory On Tap is a half sister to Majestic Presence , the graded stakes-placed dam of Newgate. A colt by Into Mischief   campaigned by SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Robert E. Masterson, Stonestreet Stables, Jay Schoenfarber, Waves Edge Capital, and Catherine Donovan, Newgate won his career debut for Bob Baffert by 3 1/2 lengths July 30 at Del Mar. Newgate himself was a $850,000 Keeneland September graduate when he sold to SF Bloodstock, Starlight, and Madaket from Taylor Made Sales Agency's consignment in 2021.

Speightstown is the sire of 21 grade 1 winners worldwide. The son of Gone West stood the 2022 season at WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $90,000. His top runners this year include Maker's Mark Mile (G1T) winner Shirl's Speight  and Stephen Foster Stakes (G2) winner Olympiad
