Funtastic Again, unsuccessful first time out when sprinting six furlongs July 1 at Belmont Park, relished two turns Saturday with a 6 1/2-length romp for Three Chimneys Farm. Trained by Wesley Ward, the colt bobbled at the start of the mile off-the-turf maiden special weight before zipping to the front and established fractions of :24.56 , :48.48, and 1:13.18 on a track rated as fast. He was geared down by jockey John Velazquez down the lane to stop the timer in 1:38.44.
Bred in Kentucky by BHMFR, Funtastic Again sold to Three Chimneys for $60,000 as a weanling at the 2020 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale from the Hunter Valley Farm consignment. He is out of the Broken Vow mare Repeta , who is also responsible for stakes winner Mucho Del Oro and graded stakes-placed Lady Glamour . The dam of four winners from six foals to race, Repeta delivered a filly by Volatile this year.
The regally-bred Funtastic is a half brother to Horse of the Year and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Saint Liam as well as to Quiet Dance, the dam of red-hot sire Gun Runner . Funtastic stood the 2022 breeding season at Three Chimneys for an advertised fee of $5,000.
