America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. It's the easiest and most fun online horse betting site out there. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Belmont Park, Race 8, 4:20 ET
#6 Bow Tie Boss: He ran a decent second about three weeks ago in what was his first start since September. He’s adding blinkers for the first time, and I expect him to come in to the race in better shape this time around. He might be able to show more speed and get the lead in this spot. I expect Tommy Macho, Native Hawk, and Fortuitous Path to take some of betting money, so we might be able to get a good price with Bow Tie Boss.
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Santa Anita Park, Race 9, 6:30 p.m. ET
#9 Anxious Times: Has a bit of a spotty record and that will help with with getting a good price on him at post time. If you cross out his turf and synthetic races, his dirt efforts fit nicely in this spot. He’s 2-for-4 on dirt and a perfect 2-for-2 at today’s distance. He’s adding blinkers, and the outside post should allow him to fiind a clean trip.
Sunday, May 3
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Santa Anita Park, Race 2, 4 p.m. ET
#6 Prettyhotprincess: She was last seen finishing a disappointing sixth as the betting favorite back in September at Los Alamitos and has been given some time off since then. She shows a steady set of workouts leading up to this race and her trainer has good stats when making this kind of move. She has shown some early speed before, and I like her outside post position.
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Santa Anita Park, Race 6, 6 p.m. ET
#5 Persuasive Paul: The key with him is that he is returning to the turf and is taking a drop in class. He’s been effective when staying a few lengths behind the speed when racing on the turf, and I think he will get that same trip today.
