Gleneagles cruised to a clear win in the QIPCO Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) May 2 at Newmarket and provided trainer Aidan O'Brien a record-equaling seventh victory in Europe's first classic of the year.

Galileo made his move a more than furlong out and drew off to a handy 2 1/4-length triumph as the 4-1 favorite with Ryan Moore aboard. Godolphin'sFrench raider

"He's a real, proper horse. He traveled like the winner throughout and they couldn't lead him long enough," Moore said.
O'Brien also called Gleneagles a great traveler, who has always shown a lot of speed.
"We will look to keep him to a mile," he said, making it unlikely the colt will be aimed at the Investec Epsom Derby (Eng-I) June 6.
Gleneagles was a top-drawer juvenile last year, winning the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes (Ire-I) and the Galileo E.B.F. Futurity (Ire-II) at the Curragh, and the Japan Racing Association Tyros (Ire-III) at Leopardstown, in succession. Sent to France last October to close the campaign, he crossed the line first in the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Fr-I), but was disqualified to third when stewards determined he impeded rivals in the closing stages.
