Airdrie Stud's second-crop sire American Freedom   had his first black-type winner when his daughter Freedom Speaks  won the Nelson's Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs Sept. 13.

The 3-year-old filly was bred in Kentucky by Hartmut H. Malluche and Silesia Farm out of the Macho Uno  winner Wicked Speed, who is a half sister to Canadian Horse of the Year and champion sprinter Fatal Bullet  and stakes winner Millennia .

Freedom Speaks sold this year for $145,000 at the Ocala Breeders Sales Winter Mixed Sale to Reitman Stables out of Best A Luck Farm's consignment. Initially with trainer Ron Spatz and then Jeremiah Englehart for her most recent two starts, the filly has won three of four starts for Carol Reitman. She has made one other start in stakes company, finishing second in the June 18 Game Face Stakes at Gulfstream Park. She has earned $392,350.

The filly won her first stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs on firm turf. She hit the wire a head in front of Happy Soul and stopped the timer in 1:15.35.

American Freedom is a 9-year-old son of Pulpit who won the 2016 Iowa Derby (G3) and was runner-up in the Travers Stakes (G1) and betfair.com Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1). The stallion stood at Airdrie for $6,000 this year.
